Now, though these are strategies that I use whenever I need to be productive and deal with stress.

Disclaimer | I am not an expert on stress, these are just my personal remedies for dealing with stress while trying to be productive, Refer to your doctor for any advice and questions.

The Story

Once, I came home from school, I believe I was in the 10th grade at the time. As I crossed the threshold of the front door, I realized the house was dead silent. I walked through, first into the den, then my brothers' room, finally, my mother's room. Not a single soul to be found. Then, I heard a scratching a the door. It was my dog, she had been left in the room, alone, for no longer than a few minutes considering I found my family feeding the other dogs in the backyard, and we separated them for feedings; so it made sense that she was in there. Now, the stress I felt didn't come from my dog being in my room nor my inability to find my family initially. It was the fact that my dog literally ate my homework. I know I know... your dog ate your homework... really? Yes, she ate my homework and not just any homework but my AP Psychology and AP Macro Economics Homework.

I was so stressed. This was the icing on the cake. I was so emotionally exhausted that I had to take a time out and think about a way to fix things. I came to the conclusion that I needed to stop and think of a way to not just calm myself but to deal with my now 2 weeks worth of homework. In the tips down below, I am going to explain I would apply the current methods that I use to destress, then I will share with you what it was that I actually did.

Make a List

Lists are a great thing, especially when you have two weeks worth of homework to do. My homework was due the next day. Using listing, I could have made a list of the things that I needed to and then started to check items off as I completed them.

Pause, Process Proceed (PPP)

Pause, Process and Proceed is a three-step process that one employee to recollect their thoughts and come up with an action plan.
Pause | Stop and take a breathe. You cannot do anything if you are too excited.
Process | Think things through. What is it that is going on? Think about the who, what, when, where, and why of the situation; then think about how you are going to fix it.
Proceed | Once you have thought everything through, it's time to execute. Put your plan in action and see when life takes you.

Aroma Therapy and Candles

Now, I did not explode on my dog, this was not the first time this had happened. I knew that she goes into my room during feeding time for the other dogs so I knew better than to leave my important papers out where she can reach them. Since I was in high school I did not practice this method of distressing but now this is my go to. I take candles and Aroma Therapy. The aroma's aid me in relaxing.

Practice Manifestation

I am still learning but in a nutshell, what you put out is what you take in. If you put out positive vibes you will receive positive vibes, the same with those that are negative. Considering my dog, I would have forgiven her for destroying my homework and myself for leaving everything out, then a quick thank you for having the damage be repairable and for the mind to take images, recreate the work and then write an explanation about what happened.

This Too Shall Pass

Everything happened for some reason or another. It is up to you how you deal with it. Once you have accepted everything within yourself you can then move on in life because, at the end of the day, that was the past.

Listen to Music or an audiobook

Sometimes, you need an outlet, l typically take the time to listen to music or an audiobook in times of stress. It is an amazing outlet when you are looking to escape our stress.

Blogging

I take to the keys whenever I start to stress and I need an outlet. I am always looking for an outlet whenever I am stressing, thus I turn to my passion. Turning to the comfort one's passions can help in the time of stress.

Pick 3 Essential Things

Picking out what the essential three things at the moment are and following through with what is the most important thing during the time. In this instance, it was recovering my homework assignments to the best of my ability, securing evidence of the vicious attack on my homework and taking my dog outside so she can think about her actions.

The Outcome

01. I First took a few pictures of my dog at the scene of the crime.
02. I Took the dog outside and let her run around after the other dogs were done eating.
03. I placed the homework together. Copied my homework onto another sheet of paper to the best of my ability, then I wrote a letter of explanation and set it all up in a package for each of my teachers.

My teachers thankfully understood and I got no lower than a B- on the assignments. But the initial stress that I felt would have done me in if I had not picked three essential things that I needed to do to rectify the situation.
