What is a Content Creator?

According to Wikipedia, Content creation is the contribution of information to any media and most especially to digital media for an end-user/audience in specific contexts. In Layman's terms, content creation is the act of sharing information across various media forms for the consumption of others.

For years, I have studied content creation and build a mental vault of how to make the content I was consuming better across various platforms. It wasn't until last year that I decided to open it and share it with the world. With that said, in this post, you will find out the basics of content creation.

What is Content Creation?

Content Creation, as stated above, is the act of sharing information across various media forms for the consumption of others.

Who Creates Content?

Content can be created by any and everyone. If you have ever shared a status, gone live, recorded yourself, written a blog post or even shared a post for that matter, you have participated in the creation of content.

Now, those who take on the title of content creations or Creative Entrepeures are those who find themselves creating content constantly, most times for an audience.

Where Can You Find Content?

Content can be found in many places. On TV, on your computer, phone, billboards, etc. In these days the primary sources of content are discovered on electronic devices that have internet access. This doesn't mean that you have to restrict yourself to the internet, but you would be doing yourself a disservice if you were to do so.

Offline content is content that you can find offline, such as TV (cable/antenna), CD's DVD's, VHS, and physical books.

How To Create Content?

When you are looking to create content, you should consider creating a content strategy. A content strategy is a plan that will guide you through the content creation process. An excellent content creation strategy to follow would be that of Justin McGill on Hub Spot.

To give a brief overview of what all encompasses a Content Strategy would be
  • Understanding what content is
  • Understanding and following a Content Strategy
  • Defining Your Audience and Finding your audience
  • Offer your audience solutions and value
  • Be Authentic
  • Decide on your platform and delivery method

Why You Should Create Content?

The three main reasons I believe that you should create content are as follows:

Returning Audience

The more content you create, the more interest you create among your readers and the more often they will visit your site. Your content will keep them coming back time and time again.

Build Authority

When building authority, you are establishing a platform for yourself. You are creating a place for people to come for answers, advice, and entertainment.

Create Trust

Your visitors are going to start trusting you once they realize that your information is credible and that you are consistent and authentic.

Conclusion

Content Creation is the act of sharing information across various media forms for the consumption of others. When you create a status, you are creating content. Content can be created both on and offline. Content is best created when you have a strategy in line. Finally, there are three reasons you should create content, Returning audience, Build Authority and Create trust.
